John Downey is currently the VP of Information Security at Root. Root is a car insurance company founded on the belief that good drivers should pay less for insurance since they’re less likely to get into accidents. Using technology in smartphones to measure driving behavior, the Root app determines who is a safe driver and who isn’t. In his free time, he contributes to open source projects and volunteers for organizations like the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation and FIRST Robotics.
